Renowned Serbian Actor Nebojša Glogovac Passes Away

BELGRADE, (Patria) - Actor Nebojša Glogovac passed away this morning at the age of 49 at the Institute for Oncology in Belgrade, Blic reported.

Glogovac was urgently admitted to the Institute for Oncology 10 days ago. At the time, the media reported that the famous actor was seriously ill and that his health condition was serious.

His colleague Nataša Ninković also bid farewell to the actor this morning on the social network Instagram.

Actor Nebojša Glogovac was urgently admitted to a hospital in Belgrade on January 30th of this year due to a serious health problem.

It was then revealed that Glogovac was seriously ill and that his health condition was serious. He was staying at the Institute for Oncology.

Nebojša Glogovac was born on August 30, 1969, in Trebinje, to the family of priest Milovan and Milena Glogovac. The family moved to Pančevo when Nebojša was 7 years old.

Glogovac had a small role as Slobodan Popadić's school friend in the then very popular series „Bolji život“ (Better Life) (1987). After high school, he enrolled in psychology studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.

After two years of study, he changed his mind and in 1990 enrolled in acting at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade in the class of Professor Vladimir Jevtović. He studied with Nataša Ninković, Vojin Ćetković, and Sergej Trifunović.

Nebojša Glogovac played numerous roles on television and in theater.

He was considered by critics to be one of the best actors in the region and received numerous awards and recognitions for his artistic work, including five annual awards from his home theater, JDP.

Last year, he was named European Actor of the Year at the Film Festival in Italy. He received awards for best actor in the film „Ustav Republike Hrvatske“ (The Constitution of the Republic of Croatia) at festivals in Pula and London, as well as the Grand Prix at the Film Encounters in Niš.

His Sterija Award for acting performance in the play „Hadersfild“ at Sterijino pozorje in Novi Sad, the City of Belgrade Award for film art, the „Miloš Žutić“ Award, the „David Štrbac“ Statuette, the „Branka i Mlađa Veselinović“ Award, the „Ardalion“ awards... are also noteworthy.

Nebojša Glogovac is survived by three children.
