Legendary NASCAR driver Kyle Busch passes away

(Patria) - The world of motorsports has been shaken by the news of the death of famous NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, who passed away at the age of 42.

His team announced earlier in the day that Busch had been hospitalized due to what they described as a "serious illness," and confirmation of his death followed shortly thereafter.

The legendary American driver was in his 22nd full season in the top NASCAR division. During his illustrious career, he won two Cup Series championships, in 2015 and 2019, and achieved a total of 63 victories, placing him among the most successful drivers in the history of the sport.

NASCAR's official statement said the entire community is heartbroken by the loss of one of the sport's greatest talents.

"On behalf of the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing, and all of NASCAR, we confirm with immense sadness the sudden and tragic death of Kyle Busch," the statement read.

NASCAR added that Busch was a future Hall of Famer, a generational talent, and a man who lived for the sport and its fans.

We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.
