POLICE OFFICER ALSO DIED: Suicide bomber was a woman in Istanbul attack

The bombing at the Tourism Office of the Istanbul Police Department in Turkey was carried out by a female suicide bomber, who died at the scene, while another police officer succumbed to his injuries, Istanbul Governor Vasip Şahin confirmed on Tuesday evening, Turkish media report.

Şahin said that the female suicide bomber entered the Tourism Office building and activated an explosive device she was carrying. One police officer was seriously injured and later died, while another police officer sustained minor injuries.

The attack occurred in the Sultanahmet area, one of the busiest parts of the old city on the Bosphorus, where most of the Turkish metropolis's symbols are located, such as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque or Hagia Sophia, NAP reports.
