(Patria) - American actor Peter Fonda, who rose to fame in the cult film Easy Rider in 1969, has died at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 80, his family announced.
The son of legendary Hollywood actor Henry Fonda, younger brother of Jane Fonda and father of Bridgett Fonda, Peter Fonda died from complications of lung cancer, according to a statement signed by the family.
"I am sad, he was my younger beloved brother and the family storyteller. I spent wonderful moments with him in his last days. He left smiling," said Jane Fonda.
Fonda was nominated for an Oscar twice for Easy Rider and for Ulee's Gold in 1998.
Fonda did not win an Oscar but won another award, a Golden Globe for his role in Núñez's work.
He starred in the 2007 film Ghost Rider, and his last film is The Last Full Measure with Samuel L. Jackson and Morgan Freeman, which is set to be released in American cinemas in October.
