Legendary Serbian and Yugoslav theatre and film actress Mira Stupica died in Belgrade at the age of 93, Belgrade media reported on Friday, just two days after she celebrated her birthday with her closest family, the Patria news agency reports.
Mira Stupica died of a stroke.
She was born as Miroslava Todorović on 17 August 1923 in Gnjilane, Kosovo, and showed an inclination and interest in acting from childhood.
She grew into an actress of exceptional talent, broad interests, a rich and diverse creative spectrum, and with her acting she marked an entire era of theatre life in Yugoslavia after World War II. Biographers of Mira Stupica note that the turning point in her career was joining the Yugoslav Drama Theatre (JDP) and meeting Bojan Stupica, whom she later married.
