Tomorrow (May 10) at 8 PM in BKC Sarajevo, the new documentary film by Avdo Huseinović "Rape in War - Invisible Scars" will be premiered. It is a harrowing story that speaks about the sexual abuse of women and men in camps during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Patria news agency.
The film was made in cooperation with the Association of Camp Detainees of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Huseinović says it was very difficult to work on this project, and that there was a long deliberation on whether to make the film at all.
-We realized that if we did not do it now, some of the horrific crimes would remain untold, unrecorded. For the first time, men are speaking openly about the horrors they survived. This especially refers to the sexual abuse of men in camps. In the film, two former camp detainees told their story about how they were forced into homosexual acts. Women victims of rape and sexual abuse also tell their stories in the film.
The film is difficult to watch, but this will be an opportunity for the wider public to learn what all was endured in the camps. We have no right to remain silent about the evil that men and women survived, and today they carry heavy traumas within themselves from all of it, Huseinović states.
