(Patria) - Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo has filed a complaint against a radio journalist who yesterday called for his murder, the prime minister's spokesperson Barend Leyts announced.
"Alexander De Croo has filed a complaint against the host who called for him to be shot," Leyts announced yesterday on social network X.
The host of the local radio station Waregem1 called for the murder of the Belgian prime minister during his show the night before last, following the attempted murder of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
- It looks like he will get away with it. The culprit has been arrested - he said about the attempted murder of the Slovak prime minister, the host whose name Belgian media do not disclose.
- To all those considering shooting Prime Minister De Croo, but who do not dare because of the security around him, I would say - you see that it is possible. I would even say - go ahead - the host said.
Belgian media report that this "tasteless joke shocked numerous listeners."
The head of the radio station, Ludo Daelman, said it was a joke that was misinterpreted and claims the host had no intention of inciting violence.
- I spoke with him and he was shocked that his statements were interpreted that way. After all, comedians constantly joke in such a manner - Daelman added.
