Preschool children must still undergo systematic check-ups exclusively at JU Health Center KS

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Although the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, at its session held on July 28 this year, at the proposal of delegate Neira Dizdarević, adopted a Conclusion obliging the KS Government and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of KS to order all primary schools to accept medical certificates from private healthcare institutions, this conclusion cannot be applied because it lacks the necessary legal basis.

In this regard, the Ministry of Health of KS has provided its Opinion, stating that for the issuance of a medical certificate on the psychophysical condition of a child for school enrollment and their health status with a description, only the Public Institution "Health Center KS" is competent, considering the fact that this institution keeps records of children's health cards from birth until school enrollment, and which contain complete medical documentation on the child's health status for that entire period.

"JU 'Health Center KS' is the institution where mandatory immunization of children of this age is carried out, for which each child has a record of immunization, in accordance with the Law on Records in the Field of Health (Official Gazette of FBiH, No. 37/12) and the Rulebook on the method of implementation of mandatory immunization, immunoprophylaxis and chemoprophylaxis against infectious diseases, and on persons subject to this obligation (Official Gazette of FBiH, No. 68/16)," explain the Ministry of Health of KS.

JU "Health Center KS" has undertaken the obligation to carry out systematic medical check-ups for preschool children by August 31 this year, despite the shortage of pediatricians, and to issue the necessary certificates.

Furthermore, this institution informs the public that, given the current epidemiological situation, they cannot perform medical examinations for school children before the start of the school year. They propose a solution whereby children will be issued certificates immediately, while complete examinations with missing vaccinations will be carried out at the beginning of September, and the examinations will be conducted in the schools that children attend.
