SDP BiH Presidency: Proposal for the Law on Electoral Units of FBiH is Fair and Non-Discriminatory

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The SDP BiH Presidency at today's session welcomed the referral of the proposal for the Law on Electoral Units in the Federation of BiH to the parliamentary procedure, which will be supported by five political entities. Satisfaction was once again expressed that the experts of the Venice Commission confirmed our earlier stance that the issue of electing delegates to the House of Peoples of the FBiH can be resolved at the entity level, through the aforementioned legal solution.

The latest draft law is supported by parties from whose ranks 72 out of a total of 98 deputies, or nearly 3/4 of the total number, were elected to the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament. Therefore, optimism was expressed regarding the adoption of the Law, with the hope that this solution, which respects the provisions of the verdict in the so-called "Ljubić" case, will also be supported by the international community.

The SDP BiH Presidency also called on other parliamentary parties at the FBiH level to demonstrate their commitment to constructive work in the interest of citizens and to support a solution that resolves the issue of electing delegates to the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament in a fair and legal manner.

At the session, the continuous attack on the standard of living of citizens through the constant increase in fuel prices, accompanied by the rise in overall living costs, was condemned. In return, the SDA-SNSD-HDZ BiH excise coalition offered nothing to the citizens. Promises of starting infrastructure works and building highways have once again been broken. Citizens' money collected from excise duties, as SDP BiH warned, has been spent only on patching budget holes created by incompetent authorities. It is evident that financing the pre-election activities of the ruling parties at the expense of citizens continues to be the sole priority of the government led by SDA.

From the Presidency session, a call was made to the ruling structures to address the problem of migrant inflows and the resolution of their status more seriously, and the competent services were invited to finally begin more intensive cooperation and coordination of their activities with the aim of preventing further escalation of the migrant crisis.

Satisfaction was expressed with the growing support that Denis Bećirović, the SDP BiH candidate for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is receiving from within the country and abroad.

Finally, the successfully implemented promotional activities of "Plan 10" across Bosnia and Herzegovina were assessed as extremely positive. With their massive turnout at promotional rallies, citizens have shown that resolving existential problems is more important to them than empty rhetoric and meaningless nationalist propaganda.
