SDA Presidency: We Condemn the Attack on Vučić, as Well as Intelligence Constructs from Serbia

The SDA Presidency expects the reform agenda to be defined as soon as possible, and that the implementation of necessary reforms begins, enabling the submission of a credible application for EU membership. We call on all political parties signatories to the BiH Presidency Statement on a new approach to the EU to support the implementation of the signed Statement, regardless of whether they are in government or opposition, it was announced from the SDA, reports the Patria news agency.

The SDA Presidency, at today's session, strongly condemned the attack on Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, which occurred after the commemoration of the genocide victims at the Memorial Center in Potočari. Those who caused this incident did not only attack Prime Minister Vučić, but they desecrated the very act of the funeral prayer and disgraced the Bosniaks, who in their tradition have always fostered hospitality.

We demand from the competent authorities to conduct a swift and effective investigation that will result in uncovering the truth about the perpetrators, and to determine any potential security lapses. Such actions by individuals must not affect the process of confronting the truth, nor further complicate reconciliation, coexistence, and tolerance among the peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans.

The SDA Presidency indignantly rejects the unfounded claims of intelligence structures and certain media in Serbia regarding the attack on Prime Minister Vučić in Srebrenica. The highest state authorities, as well as the SDA itself, have strongly condemned the attack on Vučić and extended an apology to the Serbian Prime Minister. It is concerning that this attack is being used to publish fabricated constructs that further complicate relations not only between the two countries but also among the peoples in BiH.

The SDA Presidency considers that the United Nations, thanks to Russia's veto, has once again betrayed BiH and Srebrenica. We deem the failure to adopt a resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica as shameful. It is shocking that an institution whose court convicted genocide refuses to make a decision condemning genocide. It is evident that something must change in the functioning of the United Nations when it comes to crimes against humanity and values protected by international law. Otherwise, the existence of the UN will make less and less sense in the future.

The SDA Presidency once again warned that the announced referendum by RS President Milorad Dodik on the BiH Court and Prosecutor's Office represents a dangerous activity that could lead Bosnia and Herzegovina into destabilization. We call on RS President Milorad Dodik to withdraw his proposal, and on the RS National Assembly not to make a decision on the referendum. The BiH Court and Prosecutor's Office are institutions under the jurisdiction of the state, not the entities, and any encroachment by the entities into the competencies of the state constitutes a gross violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

If the Dayton Agreement is brought into question, then the existence of what was created in Dayton, namely the entities, will first be called into question. The international community must react in accordance with its obligations under the Dayton Peace Agreement, stop this at the very beginning, and prevent the RS Assembly from making any decision on the referendum. Also, we call on law enforcement agencies, the Prosecutor's Office, and the BiH Court to closely monitor developments and react in a timely manner to protect the constitutional and legal order of BiH.

The SDA Presidency accepted the conclusions of the Council of SDA Mayors-Candidates, which, among other things, mandate the members of the Council's Coordination Team to define projects of municipal mayors as soon as possible, with the aim of including them in processes to stimulate economic development and employment. The goal of these projects is to enable employment, improve the standard of living, and change the socio-economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was announced from the SDA.
