Speaker of the Turkish Parliament: Our entry into BRICS is for the benefit of the whole world

(Patria) - Turkey's eventual membership in BRICS will benefit not only Ankara but the whole world, said the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly (Parliament) Numan Kurtulmus in an interview with TASS.

"Turkey's presence in BRICS will truly make a serious contribution to the goal of global peace. This is because Turkey is a country that participates in many international cooperation formats at the same time".

Turkey is a member of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Organization of Turkic States, the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, NATO, and a candidate for the European Union, he said.

"It is also a country that wants to develop new alternative foreign policy instruments," says Kurtulmus.

"This will enrich Turkey in terms of foreign policy instruments and we hope that Turkey's participation in such an organization will promote the strengthening of global peace in the conditions of a multipolar global system."

"Turkey, having a geostrategic position, as a bridge between East and West, having a cultural past and prospects for the future, has entered a process of transformation into a regional player, and even a player that has an effective role in the global system. We consider BRICS one of the important associations of the future multipolar global system. For this reason, Turkey's entry into BRICS will not restrain Turkey, but on the contrary, it will expand its foreign policy capacities," added Numan Kurtumlus.
