(Patria) - The head of Yemen's Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi, stated on Saturday that government forces have successfully taken over camps in Hadramout, Al-Mahra, Aden and the "rest of the liberated governorates".
"The difficult decisions made in the past few days... were aimed at protecting citizens and their dignity... in times that required respect for responsibility and full commitment to the constitution," al-Alimi said in a televised speech, Al Arabiya reported last night.
Al-Alimi called on the Yemeni people to unite, prioritize wisdom and work on restoring state institutions and ending the coup of the Houthi militia, which he accused of "still refusing to sit down for dialogue".
"The message of the (Presidential) Council has been clear since its formation: to opt for peace or continue the battle and end the threat posed by the coup to constitutional legitimacy."
Al-Alimi announced the formation of a Supreme Military Committee under the command of the Arab coalition, adding that it will be tasked with preparing and equipping all military forces and formations and supporting them to "prepare for the upcoming phase if the militias reject peaceful solutions".
Al-Alimi reiterated the state's commitment to a close partnership with the coalition leadership and the international community in combating terrorism and arms smuggling, securing maritime passages and deterring cross-border threats.
He also called on those "who have strayed from the path" to surrender their weapons and return to the state's fold.
