Case 'Staza': 12 out of 14 defendants pleaded guilty, sentenced to prison terms from one to four years

(Patria) - The defendants in the case codenamed “Staza”, based on evidence from decrypted SKY and Anom applications, in the presence of their lawyers, signed plea agreements and fully admitted responsibility for the criminal offenses they are charged with in the indictment of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the agreements, the following sentences were proposed for the defendants:

1. Defendant Vladan Kovačević, born in 1989 in Foča, prison sentence ranging from 3 years and 6 months to 4 years in prison (the court imposed a sentence of 3 years and 6 months), confiscation of illegal property gain in the amount of 6,000 BAM, as well as items used in the commission of the criminal offense.
2. Defendant Milan Mićanović, aka “Limun”, born in 1984 in Trebinje, prison sentence of 1 year and 4 months, confiscation of illegal property gain in the amount of 2,000 BAM, and confiscation of items used in the commission of the criminal offense.
3. Defendant Bojan Ćalasan, born in 1986 in Dubrovnik, residing in Bileća, prison sentence of 1 year, a fine in the amount of 15,000 BAM, confiscation of illegal property gain in the amount of 1,000 BAM, as well as confiscation of items used in the commission of the criminal offense.

The proposed sentences are in accordance with the role and responsibility of the defendants in the commission of the criminal offense, within the indictment that includes a total of 14 persons. By pleading guilty, the defendants committed to testifying in the case against the remaining defendants. By concluding the agreements, the defendants waived their right to a trial, as well as the right to appeal the judgment that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will impose based on the agreements. The plea agreements have been submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the SKY case codenamed “Staza”, a total of 12 defendants concluded plea agreements, including the group's organizer. Prison sentences ranging from one to five years were proposed and imposed for the defendants. In this way, this is the first case with evidence from SKY and Anom applications in the Western Balkans region, in which almost the entire organized crime group pleaded guilty, after which the verdicts became final.
