Detention extension proposed for terrorism suspects

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A prosecutor from the Terrorism Department has requested an extension of detention for suspects Hamza Labidi (1998) and Emir Ališić (1970) for another two months.

The acting prosecutor from the Terrorism Department, within the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, has submitted a proposal to the Court of BiH for the extension of detention for suspects Hamza Labidi, born in 1998 in Zavidovići, and Emir Ališić, known as “Ebu Talha”, born in 1970 in Sanski Most.

The extension of detention has been requested for the reasons described in Article 132, Paragraph 1, points a), b), c), and d) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, namely due to the risk of flight, the risk that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices if released, and the risk that they might commit a new criminal offense or complete an attempted one, as well as due to the particular circumstances of the commission of the criminal offenses, where their release would cause fear and unrest among the public and citizens.

The mentioned suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, suspected of the criminal offenses of Organizing a Terrorist Group under Article 202d, Paragraph 2, in conjunction with the criminal offense of Terrorism under Article 201 of the Criminal Code of BiH (Ališić), and Unlawfully Forming and Joining Foreign Paramilitary or Parapolice Formations under Article 162b of the Criminal Code of BiH (Labidi).

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH is conducting an intensive investigation against the suspects with the aim of filing an indictment in the near future.
