Detention proposed for a man from Zenica who threatened to kill infidels on social media

(Patria) - Acting within the 24/7 prosecutor's duty, the duty prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office sent a proposal to the BiH Court for the detention of suspect Edin Podgora, born in 1973 in Zenica, previously convicted, a citizen of BiH.

A report was filed against the suspect by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), and the suspect is accused of publicly posting a video of disturbing content on a social network on April 18, 2024, in which he threatens the general population, claims to be a mujahideen, and announces the killing of 'kafirs' (infidels).

The suspect was identified, located, and arrested after the post, and items and means that will be used as evidence in the proceedings were seized from him.

The suspect is under investigation for the criminal offense of terrorism under Article 201 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

Detention has been proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, Paragraph 1, points c) and d), namely due to the risk that he might re-offend or complete the attempted offense while at liberty, as well as due to the particular circumstances of the commission of the criminal offense, where releasing the suspect at liberty would cause public and citizen unrest.

At the hearing regarding the detention proposal, the prosecuting prosecutor will elaborate on the reasons for detention in detail.
