Detention proposed for seven suspects in Master operation

After questioning the suspects, the acting prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption sent a proposal to the Court of BiH for the detention of 7 suspects deprived of liberty within the operation codenamed "Master", carried out in the fight against organized crime related to financial crime and corrupt criminal offenses.

For most of the suspects, detention is proposed due to the reasons described in Article 132, point b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, i.e., due to the danger that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, or influence witnesses or accomplices if at liberty, and for one suspect, due to the reasons described in point a), i.e., due to the risk of the suspect absconding.

Also, for three suspects, prohibition measures defined in Article 126 of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH have been proposed, which include prohibiting the undertaking of certain business activities or official duties, prohibiting visiting certain places or areas, and prohibiting meeting with certain persons.

The Master operation was carried out on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and the operation involved a larger number of persons suspected of organized crime in connection with financial crime, customs and tax evasions, and corrupt criminal offenses, during the import of large quantities of textile goods into Bosnia and Herzegovina, when customs and tax duties were illegally reduced, thereby causing damage to the budget and all citizens of BiH.
