Detention requested for Sanel Arslani, sought by multiple police agencies in FBiH

(Patria) - The acting prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton has filed a motion with the Municipal Court in Srebrenik to order one month of detention for Sanel Arslani (46), residing in Tuzla, due to the existence of well-founded suspicion that he has committed the prolonged criminal offense of aggravated theft.

Arslani is suspected of committing at least eight aggravated thefts in February and April 2023 in the area of Tuzla Canton, specifically in Srebrenik, Tuzla, Živinice, and Gradačac. During this period, he broke into family homes and other facilities, stealing two cars valued at approximately 55,000 KM, as well as wallets, cards, money, mobile phones, and other valuable items. An expert examination will determine the illegal property gain he acquired through thefts and the damage he caused to the victims. He also broke into a retail store and stole a large sum of money, and on three occasions, he broke open cash registers and took money from self-service car washes, damaging the electronics on the payment machines.

An investigation is currently open against Arslani for eight acts of aggravated theft, based on reports submitted so far by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton. However, in the coming period, the investigation concerning him will be expanded to include more acts that are currently being documented or have been documented previously, and reports will be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office.

A search was issued for Arslani in several other cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the same or similar criminal offenses. Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton located him and apprehended him on July 25th of this year in the area of Lukavac.

He is a previously convicted person multiple times for criminal offenses related to property crimes.
