Detention Proposed for Suspect in Organized Crime and International Drug Trafficking

SARAJEVO; (Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office has proposed detention for Ante Tomas, born in 1959 in Drinovci, Grude, suspected of being the organizer of a criminal group involved in the trafficking and sale of heroin.

Following the interrogation of the suspect, the acting prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH submitted a proposal for the detention of the suspect:

- Tomas Ante, born in 1959 in Drinovci, Grude, previously convicted for crimes of unauthorized trafficking of narcotic drugs.

The suspect is under investigation and is accused of, along with other individuals within an organized criminal group, engaging in the smuggling, transportation, concealment, and further distribution of large quantities of heroin, which was smuggled into the territory of BiH and the Republic of Croatia.

He is also suspected of continuously supplying the illegal drug market in Mostar and Herzegovina with heroin.

Detention has been proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, points a), b), c), and d), namely due to the suspect's risk of flight, the risk that he might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices if released, as well as the risk of re-offending or completing the intended crime, and the general circumstances of the commission of the crime, in which the release of the suspect would cause public unrest.

The proposal for detention has been submitted to the Court of BiH, and the Prosecutor's Office continues its intensive investigation against all suspects in this case.
