Paris Suburb: Armed Attacker Holds Hostages in Post Office

An armed attacker is holding hostages in a post office in a Paris suburb, police reported, as cited by AFP.  

Although media initially reported two hostages, Le Figaro, citing police sources, writes that the man is holding between two and five hostages. According to some media reports, two hostages have been released. Therefore, it is unclear exactly how many people are in the post office, reports the Patria News Agency. 

The attacker is reportedly armed with a Kalashnikov, a pistol, and grenades.

So far, there is no connection between this attack and last week's attacks in Paris in which 17 people were killed.

As reported by Mirror, negotiations are underway with the kidnapper, who is known to the police from before as a petty criminal.

Police have cordoned off the area of Colombes, located northwest of Paris. A helicopter is circling the area.
