On this day in 2004, Dragomir Milošević surrendered to the Hague Tribunal, and in 2007 he was sentenced to 29 years in prison for violations of the laws and customs of war and crimes against humanity during the siege of Sarajevo, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.
Incidentally, on August 10, 1994, Milošević took command of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps from Stanislav Galić (sentenced to life imprisonment) and remained in that position until the end of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia filed an indictment on April 24, 1998. The indictment was expanded in 1999 and 2006 and contained seven counts, including crimes against humanity, violations of the laws and customs of war, and inhumane acts...
During the siege of Sarajevo, the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps under his command bombarded the city and targeted it with snipers, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians, including a large number of children.
The worst single crime during the siege is considered to be the shelling of the Markale market in Sarajevo on August 28, 1995, in which 34 civilians were killed and 78 others wounded. At Milošević's trial, it was proven that the 120 mm shell that hit the market was fired from positions of the Army of Republika Srpska.
