Youth Theatre: Festival of Children's Art Opens on May 3rd with the Play "The Tinderbox" for Children

The Festival of Children's Art (FEDU) is held in Sarajevo from May 2nd to 8th at several locations (Trg Oslobođenja-Alija Izetbegović, Youth Theatre, Grand Hall of Stari Grad Municipality, Centre for Culture Sarajevo), reports the Patria News Agency.

The festival is an opportunity to promote art and education through play and numerous programs, as well as to present new achievements in the fields of theatre, puppetry, acting, music, painting, interactive knowledge...

The specialty of this festival lies in the fact that it is fully professionalized and competitive. Eight plays for children and youth from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been selected, along with six musical choirs competing with an original composition. A competition for the best contemporary fairy tale has also been announced, receiving over forty submissions from competent literary figures from Bosnia and Herzegovina so far.

The awards are monetary and will be presented at the closing ceremony. The festival is held under the auspices of the Stari Grad Municipality and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton.

The festival will open on Tuesday, May 3rd, at 11 AM, with the first play of the festival, "The Tinderbox," based on the work of H. C. Andersen, directed by Slavcho Malenov, and produced by the Mostar Puppet Theatre.

From May 3rd to 7th, at 11 AM and 2 PM, the Youth Theatre will host a competitive theatre program featuring the best performances in the region.

At the same time, creative workshops of IMTM in musical-stage arts and visual-artistic expression will be held at Trg Oslobođenja-Alija Izetbegović.

The largest printed book of fairy tales by local authors will also be presented at the Square, and attendees will be able to see the Great Bosnian Grandfather walking through a fair of joy and children's books. Admission to all programs is free. For additional information, visit www.fedu.ba. Parents, bring your children to joy from which they learn.
