CALL TO THE PIC TO REACT Ogrešević: Situation in BiH on the verge of escalation, all who silently observe Dodik's behavior approve of the attack on the state

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is on the verge of escalation, primarily due to the escalating rhetoric of the president of the BiH entity RS, Milorad Dodik, which we have witnessed since the formation of government at the state level, and especially after the announcement that representatives of political parties in Republika Srpska will sign a joint statement today in the National Assembly of RS concerning state property, as well as a number of other issues, according to a statement from the president of the People's European Party, Nermin Ogrešević.

"Dodik has gone a step further this time and dangerously approached the red line, announcing that he will do something that no one has dared to do since the signing of Dayton - introduce supervision and controls at the entity borders. The draft joint statement states that the "Government of RS is tasked with continuing the initiated negotiations with the Government of FBiH with the aim of defining the border line between RS and FBiH". The greatest public concern is caused by the scandalous point which "obliges the MUP of RS to form a special organizational unit within the MUP to monitor the border between the entities". Although Dodik constantly refers to the Constitution, we remind him that the Constitution of BiH itself, in Article 1, Paragraph 4 - Movement of Goods, Services, Capital, and Persons, specifies: "There shall be freedom of movement throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entities shall not impede the full freedom of movement of persons, goods, services, and capital throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. No entity shall implement any border control between the entities.".

We warn Milorad Dodik that the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a buffet, so he can take what suits him at a given moment and interpret it as he wishes. Any activities at the entity borders represent unconstitutional action and a serious criminal offense, which police and judicial bodies are obliged to sanction promptly," Ogrešević told Dodik.

The president of NES called on the member states of the PIC and the High Representative for BiH to stop Dodik's brazen attempt to disrupt the constitutional order and endanger peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina."

"All those who silently observe such unconstitutional and anti-state activities are effectively approving Dodik's attack on the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Ogrešević concluded.
