Fires in Livno and Tomislavgrad threaten houses

The fire on Tušnica mountain between Livno and Tomislavgrad is still active and threatening family homes.

According to the commander of the Professional Firefighting Unit Tomislavgrad, Mate Jurčević, the fire has engulfed two sides of the mountain and, aided by the wind, has become fully active.

The fire is descending towards houses, which are currently being defended.

- We cannot approach the fire from the north due to snow, while there are no access roads from the south. As it is inaccessible terrain with a lot of dry vegetation and dry grass, we cannot approach the fire line with fire trucks, so firefighters, foresters, and volunteers with backpacks are defending against the fire spreading to the houses - said Jurčević.

On Sunday, there was also a fire in the mountainous part of Ljubuša on the other side of Duvanjsko polje, and that fire has been localized and brought under control.

In the Livno area, firefighters extinguished a fire below the settlements of Sajkovići and Gubin yesterday and last night.

At one point, the fire line was ten kilometers long, and in a few places, the fire reached houses and a dog shelter.

The houses were defended, but the fire is still active.
