Fires in Bosnia and Herzegovina Brought Under Control This Morning

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, fires are still burning, but the situation is no longer as critical as last night, when flames on several locations threatened to burn down houses.

The most critical fires in Čapljina and Berkovići have been brought under control. A helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is also on the ground this morning.

In recent days, Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić has criticised that Bosnia and Herzegovina has been suffering enormous damage from fires for years, but that the authorities are doing nothing to modernise the fire protection of our country. He said that BiH is also excluded from international assistance for fighting fires, also due to the sluggishness of BiH politicians.

Fires are burning in several locations in BiH, but the biggest hotspots are in the municipalities of Čapljina, Livno and Trebinje, where a helicopter of the Armed Forces of BiH is also intervening.
