Fires still active in Neum, BiH Armed Forces helicopters requested

(Patria) - The fire is still causing problems in Neum. 

The Mayor of Neum Municipality, Dragan Jurković, told the media that the assistance of BiH Armed Forces helicopters has been requested and they are awaiting a decision from the BiH Presidency.

“Due to the large area burning and a lot of inaccessible terrain, we have requested the arrival of helicopters from the Armed Forces. We are waiting for the signature and approval of the BiH Presidency. We hope the helicopter will arrive soon. A Canadair from the Republic of Croatia has also been requested, but that depends on the fires in Croatia; they were not available to us yesterday due to firefighting around Šibenik”, said the Mayor of Neum Municipality, Dragan Jurković.

These are parts that are inaccessible for ground firefighting, and air support is needed.

Firefighters and locals defended houses all night. The fire did not affect residential buildings, but material damage was caused to olive groves.
