Fire in Vlakovo: Flames threaten houses and the City Cemetery, wind hinders extinguishing efforts

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - We have our hands full, we are extinguishing fires at several locations, was the response from the Professional Fire Brigade of Sarajevo Canton to a query by the Patria agency.

“At the Vlakovo location, near the City Cemetery, the fire is quite severe. Three firefighting crews are down there. We are trying to defend the houses that the fire is approaching. Our firefighters are giving their maximum,” they say from the PVB KS.

We remind you, Patria previously reported that a fire has been smoldering near the “Vlakovo” cemetery since yesterday, which spread during the night and this morning.

Now it is a rather long fire line, and the fire is getting closer to the houses near the cemetery, but also not far from this location, another settlement is threatened.

The firefighters' work is also hindered by the wind, which has intensified in recent hours.

The Patria agency joins the appeals of the authorities to citizens to be careful when burning weeds and to react in time.
