Fire in Trebinje brought under control

Members of the Civil Protection are expected to arrive in the Trebinje area, where the fire line is several kilometers long, to help extinguish the fire. Firefighters from the Trebinje fire department and foresters are extinguishing the fire, reports the Patria News Agency.

"Currently, the situation is under control," said Saša Burani, a firefighter in the Trebinje Fire Department, reported Radio RS.

He stated that the fire is largely under control and that no residential buildings are endangered.

"One branch of the fire is spreading towards the settlement of Tuli and towards Drenov do and Uvjeći, it is not close to the village. The population is defending against the spread of fire towards the power poles, and a large part of the fire line has been "repaired"," said Burani, adding that the fire, which was caused by a lightning strike two days ago in the area of Zubci, is still being extinguished.
He confirmed that a conversation was held yesterday with firefighters from Konavle, in order to monitor the situation as the fire was spreading towards that location in Croatia.

The possibility of Croatian firefighters requesting the engagement of Canadairs was discussed, if there was a need to stop the spread of the fire from the Trebinje hills towards Croatia, N1 reported.
