Fire in Nahorevo: Major Damage to Muharemović Property

Early this morning, a fire broke out at the agricultural estate owned by Mehmed Muharemović in Nahorevo, causing extensive damage. In the stable, which was destroyed in the fire, about 40 lambs perished, and the owner Muharemović's van also burned. Although members of the Sarajevo Canton Professional Fire Brigade responded immediately with five fire engines, the damage could not be avoided.

– The neighbors were the first to notice the fire and immediately informed us around 4:20 a.m., when we called the firefighters. In the stable fire, where great material damage was inflicted, about 40 lambs burned. The silver lining in all this is that the livestock remained – about 200 heads of small livestock and about 50 heads of large livestock were out grazing on the Nahorevo hills at the time – said Sendin Muharemović, the owner's son.

To the public and neighbors in Nahorevo, Mehmed – Meho Muharemović is known as a hardworking and promising worker and a good householder. For several consecutive years, he was proclaimed 'Farmer of the Year in the Municipality of Centar' and awarded for his successful work.

Immediately upon learning of the fire and the great damage, the Chairman of the Centar Municipal Council, Nedžad Ajnadžić, together with his associates, visited the location where the fire occurred, to offer help to the Muharemović family in this difficult situation as a friend and representative of the authorities.

-We condemn this incident, which warns and obliges us as responsible people to help restore the burned facility as soon as possible so that work can resume and continue achieving good business results as before. The entire municipal structure – the Centar Municipal Council as the legislative authority, in cooperation with Mayor Dževad Bećirević, is at your disposal to help as much as it can – said Ajnadžić. After seeing the burned van of the Muharemović family, located about half a kilometer from the burned stable, Ajnadžić added: –I expect that, in the final analysis, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, after a detailed investigation, will discover whether this is an isolated case or whether there is a clear intention here to cause damage to a man doing good work.

During the day, firefighters continued to extinguish the remnants of the fire, and members of the Sarajevo Canton MUP also arrived at the scene.

Today's visit with Chairman Ajnadžić included Velija Katica, councilor of the Centar Municipal Council, Adil Katica, advisor to the Chairman of the Council, and Šaćir Čavrk, deputy chairman of the Council of the Local Community 'Pionirska dolina-Nahorevo'.
