Konzum fire was not set deliberately or caused externally!

The fire that broke out in the Konzum facility in Alipašino Polje on Friday, May 20, 2016, was not deliberately set or caused externally, the Patria News Agency has learned.

As confirmed to the Patria agency by the spokesperson for the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, Azra Bavčić, they are awaiting the report from the fire protection expert on the exact cause of the fire. According to Patria, the cause of the fire is known, but the expert's report will be delivered by the middle of this week.

Firefighters battled the blaze from the early morning hours; around 12 PM, flames began to erupt through the facility's windows, and the roof structure collapsed. Thick smoke spread throughout the entire settlement, and the fire was localized in the late afternoon hours.

Although there were speculations in the public that the fire was deliberately set, with one version even suggesting insurance fraud, it has been confirmed to Patria that such stories are not applicable in this case. Although there is still no damage assessment, the goods in the facility were completely destroyed.

The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office has interviewed several witnesses regarding the circumstances of the fire.
