In a fire that broke out around 4 a.m. this morning in the Nursing Home in Mirijevo, six people were injured, including two firefighters, RTS reported, as carried by the Patria news agency.
Two elderly women, residents of the home, sustained severe bodily injuries. They were unconscious, and one of them suffered burns over her entire body, said the spokesperson for the Emergency Medical Service.
They were treated in the resuscitation unit of the Emergency Center. Due to intoxication, i.e., smoke inhalation, three patients were treated at the Military Medical Academy, two of whom are firefighters.
One person was admitted to the Clinical Hospital Center Zvezdara due to heart problems. Twenty-four residents were evacuated from the nursing home. The Emergency Medical Service intervened with eight medical teams, said spokesperson Nada Macura. The fire has been extinguished, and traffic has returned to normal.
