
The fire that engulfed the Nova Pijaca area in Gradačac this morning caused extensive damage to the facility and jeopardized numerous jobs, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria. At this market, more than 1,000 workers were employed, and indirectly, around 5,000 people were affected.
The management of Nova Pijaca issued a statement informing traders and business partners that, with the promised assistance from the Gradačac Municipality, they will begin reconstruction and construction of new facilities for the market area as soon as possible.
Approximately 400 structures were burned down.
