Fire in Blidinje continues, helicopters and a water bomber on site

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The situation in Blidinje remains unchanged this morning. A water bomber and a helicopter were again used to extinguish the fire, but as firefighters on the ground explain, they were unable to extinguish the fire that is moving towards Masna Luka. The fire has engulfed dense forest, and ground forces will try to prevent its further spread during the day. 

- We can only fight this fire moving towards Masna Luka from the ground now. Air support helped, but due to the inaccessible terrain, they were unable to fully contain that part, said the commander of the Posušje Fire Department, Mario Čutura. 

Assistance in extinguishing this fire arrived yesterday from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, and firefighters on the ground can work for up to 24 hours. For all eight days that the fire has been active, they have been successfully defending the weekend settlement.
 
- We can only defend that part from the ground, Čutura points out. 

Yesterday, more than 200 firefighters and volunteers were engaged in extinguishing the fire in Blidinje. They emphasize that a large number of forces will again be deployed to fight the fire today.
