SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Around three o'clock this morning, a fire broke out near Zrće beach on the island of Pag. Firefighters from the Novalja Volunteer Fire Department are extinguishing it, and a water bomber has arrived to assist.
The strong bora wind is hampering the extinguishing efforts. According to the latest information from the field, the fire is under control.
The clubs on Zrće beach immediately directed their guests, after the fire was noticed, towards the exits and towards buses and taxis in order to leave the beach as soon as possible.
It is still not known how large an area the fire has affected or whether houses are threatened. The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) reports that traffic has been halted on the state road DC106 Pag-Novalja in Novalja due to the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown.
