Returnees and farmers in Modriča get a modern "Agro Centre"

Minister of Refugees and Displaced Persons of the FBiH Adil Osmanović yesterday visited returnees in the village of Tarevci near Modriča and attended the start of the first phase of construction of the „Agro Centre“ in this village, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

In the first phase, investment in infrastructure and equipment, as well as staff training, is planned, in order to establish three production lines for drying fruits and vegetables, a line for thermal processing, pitting, preservation and packaging of fruits and vegetables, medicinal and aromatic herbs and forest fruits, and a line for cooling and storage of fruits and vegetables with a three-chamber cold storage facility.

As was said yesterday during Minister Osmanović's visit, funds have finally been secured for the procurement of the cold storage facility, thus ensuring the completion of the first phase of construction, which will enable employment and livelihood for many returnee households.

The Tarevci Agricultural Cooperative was formed with the aim of being the institutional bearer of the development of agricultural production for returnee households and the employment of returnee families who have their own land in raising and developing agricultural production.
 

From the start, the cooperative provided interest-free social lending to returnees in Bosanska Posavina for the renewal of agricultural holdings, in cooperation with the humanitarian organization IRC, and through traditional cooperative activities, primarily in the supply of raw materials and equipment for agricultural production, NAP reports.
