(Patria) - The Chairman of the Presidency of the Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the President of the Taekwondo Federation of FBiH Samir Šarić sent an open letter to the public after yesterday's tragic accident in which young taekwondo competitor Imran Pašalić lost his life.
We are transmitting the letter in its entirety;
"Yesterday morning, when I woke up, I was met with sad news. Usually, on the day of a tournament, I communicate with organizers and coaches regarding technical issues before the tournament starts, but yesterday, before the tournament in Posušje, I was met with sad and tragic information that plunged everyone into darkness. In a traffic accident near Novi Travnik, competitor Imran Pašalić from the Zenica club lost his life, and two sisters who are members of this club and the club's coach were seriously injured. I immediately headed to the scene with my colleague from the federation, Amir Hadžović, after which we received information at the hospital in Travnik that the club's coach Ishak Skopljak was in serious condition and had undergone surgery.
After that, in Novi Travnik, at the emergency room, we found the parents of the tragically deceased Imran along with the president of the Taekwondo Club Zenica, Emir Skopljak, who is also the father of the coach Ishak. The parents had to come to identify him, such great sadness that the heart breaks. During our stay in Travnik and Novi Travnik, no one even mentioned the name of the man driving the Audi, who, according to our information, was under the influence of alcohol, nor did anyone from his family come to see what happened or to look Imran's parents in the eye. I drove Imran's parents and his twin brother to their family home, after which we headed to Zenica to the hospital to visit the injured girls. We managed to see one girl with her mother, while the other was in intensive care and being prepared for transfer to Sarajevo.
You cannot believe that something like this can happen, that life can turn around like that. In the meantime, the general secretary of the Taekwondo Federation of BiH, Vedran Ćubela, canceled all federation activities, because in addition to the tournament in Posušje, the cadet national team was supposed to gather and a black belt grading was to be held.
The Taekwondo Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will cover all the costs of our Imran's funeral, and we have organized the clubs to collect financial assistance for the family of the deceased, which will be handed over to the family. I contacted the representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kenan Uzunović, and the representative in the state parliament, Aida Baručija, who expressed their condolences and stated that they would do everything in their power to help the family. I appeal to all good people to get involved and help the family of the deceased Imran, our seriously injured girls, and our coach Ishak Skopljak, who is in serious condition. We wish them a speedy recovery.
I also appeal to all levels of government to urgently do something about the traffic law so that lives are not tragically cut short due to irresponsible individuals," the letter states.
