Within the program of the second day of the Summit 100, the leading business initiative of the region, which is being held in BiH for the first time, three panels were held today. Business leaders of the region discussed improving transport infrastructure, increasing mobility within the region concerning the movement of people and goods, and innovative solutions for sustainable energy.
Under the theme "Creating a union before the European Union," the panelists highlighted greater mobility between the countries of the region in the spheres of education, work, business, and tourism as a very important segment, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
Mirko Šarović, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, recalled the earlier initiative sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH to liberalize the movement of labor, which is one of the prerequisites for the region's development.
The region has great potential in its workforce, whose mobility must be regulated within the region itself and before joining the European Union, suggested Zdravko Počivalšek from the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Slovenia.
Miljan Ždrale, President of Agri Business CSEE, shared the thought that excess capacity in many industries creates problems in the region. As an example, he cited the long-term unsustainability of having a larger number of airlines in the countries of former Yugoslavia, and concluded that forming a common airline would be prosperous.
Daliborka Pejović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro, recognized the organization of cargo air transport as a comparative advantage of the region.
Panel moderator Zhivko Mukaetov, CEO of Alkaloid AD Skopje, concluded that the region must work on competitiveness through better movement of people and goods, and sees potential in education and agriculture, i.e., healthy food. It was concluded that only after the countries of Southeast Europe integrate in these areas will they surely be able to act together as a market in the rest of Europe, as well as the world.
In the afternoon, political leaders from Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, as well as members of the Presidency of BiH, are expected to arrive at the Summit 100. Business leaders will present the conclusions reached at the panels to them. The goal is for political leaders to recognize the potential that can be applied in practice and contribute to the development of the region's standards.
