(Patria) - The hearing of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, before the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), postponed and finally held today, took place behind closed doors.
After it was announced that Schmidt had been heard, we tried to find a recording of the hearing on the AFET website, but there was no recording.
We then sent a request to AFET to provide us with a recording of the hearing, but in response, we were informed that the hearing was held behind closed doors.
“We note that meetings held behind closed doors are not recorded“, AFET told Patria in their response.
It is evident that Schmidt's lobbying in Brussels has paid off, and the loudly announced hearing, especially by the signatories of the letter requesting it, has remained only an opportunity for conspiracy theories!
Democracy has long been at a low ebb in the EU, as there are no arguments to justify hiding Schmidt's hearing from the public.
