Indictment for Attempted Murder in Bužim Confirmed

(Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Bihać has confirmed the indictment of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the Una-Sana Canton against Jusić Rasim (61), filed on reasonable suspicion that in March 2023, at the "Kov-Grad" gas station in Bužim, he attempted to kill J.S.

The Prosecutor's Office charged Jusić with two criminal offenses in the indictment;

- that on March 9, 2023, at around 9:00 AM, at 505. Viteške Brigade Street, Bužim municipality, in the parking area of the "Kov-Grad" gas station in Bužim, due to previous poor relations, he stopped J.S.'s vehicle, after which a brief verbal and physical altercation ensued between them, following which the suspect sprayed him with tear gas in the eye and face area, and when J.S. began to move back towards his car, Jusić Rasim, aware that he could kill him and intending to do so, took a hand-made pistol, a so-called "nimac," from his jacket pocket and fired one shot in the direction of J.S., then emptied the pistol and ejected the cartridge, placed another bullet in the pistol barrel, but was prevented from further shooting by V.R., who held his hand in which he held the pistol, during which J.S., due to the effect of the tear gas spray, sustained bodily injuries in the form of injury to the left eye involving bleeding into the ocular membrane, and due to blows to the head and body, sustained injuries in the form of nosebleeds, while due to the effect of the fired bullet into the body, he sustained bodily injuries in the form of injury to both gluteal regions and the right thigh in the form of gunshot wounds, which overall constitutes a minor bodily injury, thus he attempted to kill another person, and

- that on March 9, 2023, at around 9:00 AM, at 505. Viteške Brigade Street, Bužim municipality, in front of the "Kov-Grad" gas station in Bužim, contrary to the provision of Article 7, Paragraph 1 of the Law on Weapons and Ammunition of the Una-Sana Canton (Official Gazette No. 15/21), although aware that it is prohibited to keep and possess weapons without the appropriate weapon document, without the appropriate weapon document, he possessed and carried a firearm, a hand-made short rifle, a so-called "Kubura" or "nimac," and 6 (six) cartridges of 16mm caliber, which he intended, which weapon, according to Article 6, Paragraph 1, Point b) of the same law, is classified as Category B weapons – weapons requiring a permit, thus he acquired, possessed, kept, and carried a firearm and ammunition for Category B weapons, for the keeping and carrying of which a permit from the competent authority is required, without a valid weapon document.

The indictment proposed that the items used in the commission of these criminal offenses – the tear gas and the hand-made weapon – be permanently confiscated from the accused, and that they be destroyed upon the finality of the verdict.

The validity of this indictment has been confirmed by numerous pieces of evidence collected during the investigation, particularly witness statements and complex medical, chemical, biological, mechanoscopic, and ballistic expert examinations.

In the coming period, a hearing for a plea on guilt is expected to be scheduled before the Cantonal Court in Bihać.
