Indictment against Samel Ćatić confirmed

(Patria) - The Municipal Court of Tuzla confirmed the indictment of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton against Samel Ćatić (40) from Lukavac due to well-founded suspicion that at the end of July 2023 in the village of Tumare in the Lukavac area, he committed the murder of ninety-year-old Jovanka Đurić.

There is well-founded suspicion that Ćatić, between the afternoon of July 30 and the morning of July 31, 2023, went to the house of the aforementioned elderly woman, located in a secluded place in Tumare, entered the house, and inflicted a number of blows on the elderly woman, which led to her death. In order to conceal the traces, he wrapped her body in a blanket and mattress and hid it in an unknown location.

The prosecution conducted the investigation in this case in cooperation with the Criminal Police Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, and investigators from the Center for Forensic Examinations, Expertise, and Research of the Federal Police Administration also participated in the investigation. Certain expert examinations also involved the Agency for Forensic Examinations and Expertise of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After confirming the indictment, the Municipal Court of Tuzla accepted the proposal of the acting prosecutor and extended Ćatić's pre-trial detention for another two years.
