Indictment confirmed against Nijaz Salamović and others: His wife and brother also among the accused for providing him with a false certificate

(Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo confirmed the indictment of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office against Nijaz Salamović, Vera Arnautović, Reuf Sulejmanović, Lejla Dragnić, Mirza Mujarić, Adeline Džanković, Edin Salamović, and Enisa Salamović.

Nijaz Salamović is accused of committing the criminal offenses of abuse of position or authority, forgery of an official document, fraud, and forgery of a document. Vera Arnautović, Reuf Sulejmanović, Lejla Dragnić, Mirza Mujarić, and Adelina Džanković are accused of abuse of position or authority, while Edin Salamović and Enisa Salamović are accused of the criminal offense of forgery of an official document.

Vera Arnautović, former director of KJKP “Rad”, Reuf Sulejmanović, Lejla Dragnić, Mirza Mujarić, president and members of the Supervisory Board, are accused of illegally appointing Nijaz Salamović as acting executive director for economic and legal affairs of KJKP “Rad” in May 2021, even though he did not have the required work experience in management positions in accordance with the company's Statute. Thus, by the decision of the Supervisory Board and at the proposal of acting director Vera Arnautović – he was appointed to that position.

After warnings from the KS Office for Combating Corruption that such an appointment was illegal, the Management, the Supervisory Board, and Adelina Džanković as the Assembly of KJKP “Rad” amended the Statute to state that management members now require work experience, not work seniority. In order for the accused Salamović to remain in the management position, he submitted certificates of work experience issued by the company “Dilber”, of which he is the owner, and signed by his brother Edin Salamović and wife Enisa Salamović. Thus, Edin and Enisa Salamović are accused of falsifying data on the work seniority and work experience of Nijaz Salamović, who worked as a sales representative in other companies during the period covered by the certificates, in their capacity as director and advisor of the company “Dilber”. In February 2024, Nijaz Salamović was appointed director of the cantonal company “Rad”, although, as determined by the investigation, he did not have the necessary work experience in a management position. Thus, illegal appointments enabled him a benefit in the amount of 145,037.17 KM. At the proposal of the KS Prosecutor's Office, the court ordered a temporary measure to secure property benefits against the accused Salamović in the amount of 145,037.17 KM.

The acting prosecutor proposed to the court the extension of restrictive measures for the accused Nijaz Salamović and Reuf Sulejmanović. Specifically, the accused Salamović is prohibited from performing official duties as executive and acting director in KJKP „Rad“ and from performing other managerial official duties in public companies and public company management bodies. The accused Sulejmanović is prohibited from performing official duties as president of the Supervisory Board, acting president of the Supervisory Board, member of the Supervisory Board, and acting member of the Supervisory Board in public companies to which he might be appointed.

For the main hearing, the examination of 18 witnesses and the presentation of approximately 250 material evidence have been proposed. Incidentally, significant cooperation was achieved with the KS Office for Combating Corruption in the mentioned case.
