Indictment confirmed against cantonal prosecutor Jasminka Knežević for disclosure of official secrets

(Patria) - The Special Department for Corruption, Organized and Inter-Cantonal Crime of the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment of the Special Department of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Jasminka Knežević (1976), due to well-founded suspicion that she committed the criminal offense of disclosure of official secrets under Article 388, paragraph 3, in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Cantonal prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, Jasminka Knežević, who has been suspended by a final decision of the First Instance Disciplinary Commission of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is accused of having, in the period from May 16 to May 20, 2025, as an official in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, using the social network TikTok and the WhatsApp application, provided documents from a criminal case she was in charge of to an unauthorized person, thereby making particularly confidential data that constitutes an official secret accessible.

The indictment states that the accused, knowing that this was particularly confidential information owned by the Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, without the owner's permission, sent photographs of parts of documentation marked with the secrecy level "Confidential" to an unauthorized person, as well as a part of the record of witness testimony from the investigation, even though she knew that this data was declared an official secret by law and that she was not authorized to share it.

In this way, knowingly and contrary to the applicable regulations, as an official in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, she made particularly confidential data that constitutes an official secret accessible to another person without authorization, thus giving rise to well-founded suspicion that she committed the criminal offense of Disclosure of Official Secrets under Article 388, paragraph 3, in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
