(Patria) - An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale hit the area near Vanuatu, in the South Pacific, the US Geological Survey (USGS) announced.
The epicenter was about 83 kilometers east of Port-Olri, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The US Tsunami Warning Center announced that there is no danger of a large wave forming after the earthquake.
Port Olri is a small village on the island of Espiritu Santo in the Sanma Province of Vanuatu.
