BRUSSELS, (Patria) - Lieutenant Colonel and military assistant to NATO Allied Forces for Europe Nicholas Chalons said that it is necessary to increase control over the illegal procurement of weapons in BiH, and spoke about the large disproportion in the armament of military and police officers in BiH, reports Patria agency.
Chalons stated at a joint meeting of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence and the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the European Parliament held on Thursday that he is particularly concerned about the situation in Republika Srpska, where, as he pointed out, every police officer has an automatic weapon, while in European Union countries, one automatic rifle is available for seventeen to eighteen police officers.
“BiH at the state level must register all weapons. So far, about 50% have been registered, and none of them in the territory of Republika Srpska,” said Chalons, reports Patria.
