Agreement Reached on Safe Navigation in the Black Sea

(Patria) - The United States announced that it has concluded separate agreements with Ukraine and Russia to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea and to implement a ban on attacks on energy facilities in the two countries.

Both countries have agreed that safe navigation in the Black Sea will be guaranteed, that they will refrain from the use of force, and that they will prevent the use of commercial ships for military purposes, the US government, which mediated the negotiations, announced.

Regarding Ukraine, the US also commits to supporting efforts aimed at prisoner exchanges, the release of civilians, and the return of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.

Russia, which is currently under numerous sanctions, can count on the White House's support regarding Russia's access to the global market for agricultural products and fertilizers, reduced maritime insurance costs, and improved access to ports and payment systems for these transactions.

During the talks, the US reiterated that President Donald Trump unconditionally wishes to end the loss of life on both sides.

Washington will continue to organize negotiations between the two sides to ultimately achieve a peaceful outcome.

In a statement, the US administration thanked Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in whose country the negotiations were held.

Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov stated that Kyiv supports both ceasefire agreements with Russia announced by the US today and that Ukraine would welcome third countries to monitor the implementation of the agreements.

In a post on X, Umerov wrote that Ukraine will consider any movement of Russian naval vessels outside the eastern part of the Black Sea a violation of the agreement and that, should such a thing happen, Ukraine will allow itself the right to self-defense.
