Ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza!

(Patria) - A Hamas official told Sky News that a ceasefire agreement with Israel has been reached, reports Jutarnji list.

The Israeli government will vote on the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip tomorrow, a government official confirmed to Reuters.

Hamas leader Khalil Al Hayya submitted the approval of the ceasefire agreement to mediators in Doha.

Israeli media reported that Hamas made last-minute demands for the ceasefire agreement.

Reports in Israeli media state that it issued new demands regarding the Philadelphi corridor - a strategically important strip of land along Gaza's southern border with Egypt.

CBS reports that a solution to this issue was found at the last minute.

What does the agreement include?

As a reminder, Qatar mediated the negotiations, and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met with Hamas negotiators in his office for the final agreement.

An official familiar with the negotiations told Reuters that the agreement includes an initial six-week ceasefire phase, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, the release of hostages held by Hamas, and the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

The implementation of the ceasefire agreement could take up to 48 hours, military analyst Michael Clarke told Sky News.

The agreement, he points out, has been known for some time, but the issue was the precise numbers, for example, how many Palestinian prisoners would be released, and how many hostages.

Following the announcement that a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel has been reached, Palestinians in Gaza began to celebrate. People were cheering and applauding in the streets.

The agreement followed months of negotiations mediated by Egyptian and Qatari mediators, with the support of the USA.

The newly elected US President Donald Trump also commented on the matter.

"We have a deal for the hostages in the Middle East. They will be released soon," Trump wrote on his social platform Truth Social.

The BBC reports that Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has interrupted his diplomatic visit to Italy following progress in negotiations to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that Saar will return to Israel tonight to participate in the government's vote on the agreement. He was scheduled to travel to Hungary tomorrow to attend further diplomatic talks.
