SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Representatives of the Association of Employers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Management of the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda BiH have reached an agreement that the announced increase in electricity prices is unsustainable and would have unforeseeable consequences for the economy, the population, and society as a whole.
The topic of the meeting was the announced drastic increase in electricity prices ranging from 70 to 120 percent.
The joint conclusion is that representatives of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina need to be included in the talks, and it was agreed that a joint meeting of representatives of the UPFBiH and the Management of JP Elektroprivreda BiH with the Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalić and the Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
UPFBiH emphasizes that the announced increase in electricity prices would not only be a blow to the economy, which has just begun to recover from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also to the population, as higher electricity prices would result in a drastic increase in the prices of goods and services on the market.
The Association of Employers of FBiH will not abandon its position that the maximum increase in electricity prices should not be more than a single-digit number.
