Visit of the Government of TK to the City of Gradačac: Emphasis on Environmental Projects, Education, and Agriculture

GRADAČAC, (Patria) - Today, a delegation of the Government of Tuzla Canton, led by Prime Minister Kadrija Hodžić, paid a working visit to the City of Gradačac. A meeting with Mayor Edis Dervišagić and his assistants was held in the assembly hall of the Sports Hall in Gradačac.

The meeting discussed current topics and priority problems faced by Gradačac as a local community. Regarding specific projects, special attention was paid today to environmental projects, education, and agriculture in the area of the city of Gradačac.

Prime Minister Kadrija Hodžić expressed his satisfaction to be in Gradačac today, which is, among other things, the holder of the prestigious "Globallocal" award, given for creating a good environment for entrepreneurship development in Central and Southeast Europe in the category of "Best Local Communities in 2019".

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management of TK, Vahidin Smajlović, stated that at today's meeting, many questions were asked by representatives of the City of Gradačac services related to that ministry. One of the questions was about co-financing the operation of the wastewater treatment plant in Gradačac. The operating costs of the treatment plant itself amount to over 100,000 KM.

"I believe this is a very important issue, and I have proposed that the services of the City of Gradačac submit an initiative regarding the financing of the operating costs of the treatment plant, which the ministry and the Government would consider in order to plan financial resources for this very important environmental project in Gradačac," said Smajlović. 

Mayor Edis Dervišagić expressed satisfaction with the visit of the Prime Minister and the relevant ministers, stating "that all current issues were opened today, and we tried to find answers to many questions that we face in our local community and which we cannot solve alone without the help of higher levels of government."

"We focused on issues of arable land management in the area of the city of Gradačac, which we consider to be our greatest natural wealth and which are currently insufficiently used for the purposes they should be used for, and I think we opened this issue today, which we will prioritize solving in the coming period."

Additionally, in the area of the city of Gradačac, there are several facilities that were used for educational purposes and are currently unused, and they need to be repurposed to prevent further devastation of these facilities. The Mayor expressed his belief that this meeting will yield positive results and that the issues opened today will be concretized in the form of certain decisions and conclusions that we will agree upon together.

After the meeting with the Mayor and his associates, the delegations of the Cantonal Government and the City of Gradačac visited the companies "Dukat-Laktalis" and "IMK Kula Gradačac".

Incidentally, this is the first official visit of a Cantonal Government delegation to the City Administration of Gradačac, and both sides expressed satisfaction with today's meeting, direct communication, and mutual understanding, which can contribute to faster resolution of existing problems.
