Family tragedy in Split: Husband kills 49-year-old wife with a rifle, then attempts suicide

A shooting occurred in Split in the early morning hours, resulting in the death of 49-year-old Marica Č. Her husband, Boris Č., was found wounded lying in front of a van. The shooting happened around 4:20 AM near a building at Hrvatske mornarice street, house number 32, reports the Patria News Agency.

Marica was shot by her husband, Boris, who killed her with several bullets from a Zagi assault rifle. He then most likely attempted to take his own life by shooting himself in the head, but failed. He is currently at the Split University Hospital with severe brain injuries, and doctors are doing everything they can to save his life, writes Slobodna Dalmacija.

The woman was killed in a red Mercedes van owned by her. Upon realizing he had killed his wife, her husband decided to end his own life.

Boris was arrested in June this year for domestic violence but was released to defend himself from freedom. The details and causes of this sad story are not yet fully known as an investigation is underway.
