Family tragedy in Banja Luka: Killed his wife, then committed suicide

The Operational Duty Service of the Banja Luka Police Department was reported yesterday (31 August) at around 12:20 p.m. that a lifeless body was spotted in the riverbed of the Vrbas River in Manjačkih ustanika Street in Banja Luka, reports the news agency Patria.

 

A diving team of the Special Police Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska removed the body to the shore, where an investigation determined that it was a person with the initials N.D. from the settlement of Bukvalek, Banja Luka municipality, and that death occurred by drowning, with no signs of violence.

On the same day, at around 7:25 p.m., police officers found the lifeless body of his wife S.Š. in the yard of N.D.'s family home, with visible injuries to the neck and head. The investigation determined that the death was violent in nature, most likely caused by strangulation.

Due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that N.D., in the period from 29 August to 31 August, killed his wife S.Š., after which he committed suicide by drowning in the Vrbas River, the lifeless body of the deceased S.Š. was transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Banja Luka, where an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska announced.
