(Patria) - Representatives of the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide, the Movement of Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa, and the Association of Women of Podrinje – Bratunac will attend the pronouncement of the final verdict on Friday, based on the appeals filed by the mothers of Srebrenica and the Netherlands against the 2017 Appellate Court ruling, according to which the Netherlands is partially responsible for the deaths of around 300 Srebrenica residents killed in July 1995.
As Munira Subašić, president of the 'Mothers of Srebrenica' Association, stated earlier, the representatives will hold a series of meetings in The Hague where they will present their observations regarding the developments in the judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"We will inform the relevant officials of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) about everything again in The Hague," Subašić added, clearly emphasizing that the 'Mothers of Srebrenica' will not support the work of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In fact, more than 6,000 family members of those killed in the Srebrenica genocide sued the Netherlands in 2007, and seven years later, the District Court in The Hague determined that the Netherlands was responsible for the deaths of more than 300 men whom a Dutch battalion expelled from a UN base on July 13, 1995, knowing they would be killed.
However, the victims' families and the Netherlands appealed this verdict. The Appellate Court confirmed the Netherlands' responsibility in 2017.
